Commercial Building Benchmarking

Commercial Building Benchmarking

Benchmarking with ENERGY STAR® Portfolio Manager

  1. Analyze your energy use by using the ENERGY STAR Portfolio Manager.
Portfolio Manager is an interactive energy management tool that allows customers to track and assess energy consumption. Participants will receive assistance in setting up their secure account and learn the process to establish a relative energy efficiency rating compared to similar facilities. The rating will be based on a scale of 1-100. The higher the rating, the better your building is performing.) Using this tool, you can benchmark how well your building performs against other similar buildings nationwide. (A rating of 50 indicates that the building, from an energy consumption standpoint, performs better than 50% of all similar buildings nationwide.)
  2. Set prioritized goals and implement measures to improve energy use.
There may be many improvements you can make to save energy. But we all know resources are limited. We will help you prioritize your investments to maximize your return. Site assessments might be conducted in some instances to further clarify usage. All participating customers will receive a summary report of energy efficiency opportunities to improve their facility(ies). This report will include a review of relative Minnesota Energy Resources incentive offerings as well as other funding and financial opportunities that may be available.
  3. Tracking changes over time to measure improvement.
Customers completing a qualifying gas-saving project will receive Portfolio Manager update services for 12 months at no charge. Keep working toward a rating of 75 or better and qualify for the ENERGY STAR label. Continue to enjoy the benefits of using less energy for years to come. It's good for the bottom line!

Minnesota Energy Resources customers with one gas meter and two or fewer electric meters per building are encouraged to participate!
