If you are a low-income customer using natural gas as a primary fuel for space heating, you may be eligible for funds dedicated to weatherizing low-income customers' homes. Minnesota Energy Resources provides funding to relevant Community Action Program (CAP) agencies for the administration of this program.

If it is determined that you qualify, these services and improvements are provided at no cost to you. The improvements made at each home are determined by the CAP agencies based on the specific needs of the home.

The following improvements are eligible for funding by Minnesota Energy Resources:

  • A standard energy audit
  • Blower door test and air sealing
  • Side wall insulation
  • Attic insulation
  • Tuck under garage ceilings, foundations, crawl spaces, and rim joist insulation
  • Outdoor venting of dryers and exhaust fans
  • Caulking and weatherstripping
  • Duct and pipe insulation in unfinished areas
  • Emergency heating system and water heating equipment replacement
  • Programmable thermostats
  • Showerheads and aerators
  • CO Detectors

Eligible customers must also meet specific income guidelines.
