Ingredients:

  • 2 cups dry bread crumbs (dried bread slices work well crushed)
  • 4 cups milk
  • 2 eggs
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup raisins (optional)
  • Caramel or butterscotch ice cream topping

Directions:

Soak bread crumbs in milk until soft.

Beat eggs until light. Add sugar, salt, nutmeg, vanilla and raisins. Mix with bread mixture.

Pour into an 8" x 8" greased baking pan. Bake until knife inserted in center comes out clean.

Note:

Serve warm with caramel or butterscotch ice cream topping.
