Switching to natural gas is easy. And the investment you make will quickly be recovered through the savings you'll see.
Tips for converting your home to natural gas:
- Service Line Installation - Minnesota Energy Resources provides the first 75 feet of pipe that runs between the gas main and meter at no charge. If additional portions of service line are needed, you will be responsible for the charge. Contact Minnesota Energy Resources at 800-889-9508 to learn about your options.
- Excess Flow Valve - Minnesota Energy Resources installs an Excess Flow Valve (EFV) on all new residential gas service lines. This valve automatically limits the flow of natural gas if a service line is cut.
- Selecting A Contractor - To upgrade your piping and equipment choose a qualified contractor who follows all code requirements when switching to natural gas.
- Heating Equipment Estimates - When replacing your furnace, get two or three quotes. There are rebates to install a high efficiency heating system.
