Hints for the holidays

Celebrate the season while managing energy costs with these holiday tips:

  • Expecting a house full of guests? Before they arrive, lower your thermostat to 68 degrees (or lower) to keep everyone comfortable and save on heating costs
  • Headed to Grandma’s house? Turn your furnace down to 65 degrees when you are away. You can also close blinds and curtains to hold heat in.
  • Baking for your get together? Keep the oven door shut and check cooking progress through the window. Opening the door for a few seconds lowers the temperature inside by as much as 25 F.
