Home / Ways to Save / Rebates and Programs
Minnesota Energy Resources' heating system rebates provide rebates for upgrading to a high efficiency natural gas furnace or boiler, installing a programmable or advanced thermostat, or installing an energy efficient gas hearth/fireplace in your existing homes. Not only will you save on your upgraded system, but you'll continue to save with reduced natural gas use year after year. We recommend that you work with a heating dealer of your choice to determine the best system for your home.
The Air Conditioning, Heating and Refrigeration Institute (AHRI) will be used to verify actual AFUE ratings for heating purposes. Please reference all rebate requirements prior to installation to ensure eligibility.
AFUE: Annual Fuel Utilization Efficiency
* Rebate amount is 50% of total cost, up to maximum rebate amount listed above.
** Must feature integrated occupancy-sensing capabilities (such as motion sensors or geofencing) without additional devices. Thermostat must learn occupancy and automatically improve programming schedule using advanced analytics.
These rebates are not intended for new construction. New construction is defined as being built in the last two years. If your home is new construction, visit our new construction rebate page.
Please reference all rebate requirements prior to installation to ensure eligibility. To apply for a rebate, download and fill out the heating system rebate application. To qualify for the Advanced Thermostat rebate, complete model number must be provided. There is a limit of one qualifying thermostat per natural gas service address. Funding is limited and can change at any time. Applications will be processed on a first-come, first-served basis.
If you are a nonprofit, new construction organization such as a Community Housing Development Authority, Housing Development Agency or Habitat for Humanity serving the low-income community, Minnesota Energy Resources supports your community efforts with enhanced rebates through low income new construction rebates.
